Padded Metal Frame Folding Chair
Padded Metal Frame Folding Chair
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This fun, foldable lightweight chair is suitable for many occasions such as parties and events and would look gorgeous in any modern home, be it the kitchen, living room, office or bedroom. A total of four chairs were up cycled from a previous monotonous life.
Their metal tubular frame is grey in color and complements the African wax fabric used to re-upholster the seats and backrests of the chairs. With prolonged sitting, one comes to appreciate the high-density sponge used as filling. Up cycling these chairs has promoted them from low-range category to upper-range - the initial “cheap-and-cheerful”, carefree and easy-going attitude of these chairs on the one side has been counter-balanced, uplifting and upgrading them and giving them a greater feeling of comfort and reliability. Its foldable construction makes it easy to store and carry. It is really suitable for almost anywhere, home, garden, office etc.

BACKSTORY:
A folding chair, as everyone knows, is a type of folding furniture that’s light, portable, folds flat or to a smaller size, and can be stored in a stack, in a row. But not everyone knows that folding chairs go as far back as the 15th-13th century BC. The frame was mostly made of wood, and seldom made of metal. However, in the United States in 1947, Fredric Arnold created the first aluminium-folding chair. In a space of ten years, the Fredric Arnold Company of Brooklyn, New York, was churning out more than 14,000 chairs per day. Today, the folding chair is made predominantly of hard plastic, metal or wood.
The 100% cotton fabric commonly known as “Ankara”, “Ankara print”, “African print”, ”African wax print” “Holland wax” and “Dutch wax” exudes vibrant, inspired patterns and history. Often very colorful, this cloth with its tribal-like patterns and motifs is predominantly associated with Africa and its cultures even though the origin of Ankara is neither genuinely or altogether African. Dutch wax prints initially were mass-produced imitations of Indonesian batik fabric intended for the Indonesian market. However, it found a more receptive and enthusiastic market in West Africa, where it quickly became symbolic with traditional and high quality African fashion and spread to other parts of Africa and the world.
